Kentucky Derby 2017 update: Breeders' Cup Juvenile preview

The 2016 Breeders' Cup Juvenile will be run later this weekend at Santa Anita Park and seven of my Top 11 Kentucky Derby 2017 contenders are entered.

Closing week at Santa Anita Park (July 8-10)

The Santa Anita Park spring/summer meet came to a close on Sunday, July 10 and despite stiff competition from Flavien Prat, Rafael Bejarano captured another riding title. Phil D'Amato ran away with the top trainer trophy. 



Friday Santa Anita Park Recap: July 8
Five wire job winners on the fast main track (5f, 8.5f, 7f, 6.5f, 6f).
Tiago Pereira and Phil D’Amato teamed up for two wins.
Saturday Santa Anita Park Recap: July 9
Two wire-to-wire winners on the fast main track (5f, 7f).
Apprentice Chad Lindsay and Flavien Prat both booted home a pair.
Horse to Watch: SILVER ASSAULT - The Jerry Hollendorfer trainee had a bad start in the SA Juvenile and ended up rallying wide for the show. He would have been much closer with a clear start. 
Sunday Santa Anita Park Recap: July 10
Two wire-to-wire winners on the fast main track (5f, 7f).  
Tyler Baze and Rafael Bejarano both booted home a pair. Training doubles for Richard Baltas, Bob Baffert, and Bill Spawr.
